This page explains how pricing, commissions, and payouts work for Hosts on the Roamaya platform. Our model is designed to be transparent and fair — you always know exactly what you'll earn.
1. How Pricing Works
1.1 You Set the Price
- You decide the per-person trip price when creating a listing.
- The price you set is the total price travelers pay (inclusive of platform fee).
- Roamaya deducts its commission from the booking amount — travelers are never charged extra.
1.2 Pricing Tips
- Research similar trips in your region to stay competitive.
- Factor in all your costs: transport, accommodation, meals, permits, guide fees, and your margin.
- Consider seasonal pricing — higher during peak demand, slightly lower for off-season.
- Be transparent about what's included vs. excluded to avoid disputes.
2. Platform Commission
| Host Tier | Commission Rate | Eligibility & Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Founding Host | 12% | First 15 registered hosts (Valid until Dec 31, 2026) |
| Standard Host | 15% | Permanent standard rate for all registered hosts |
Commission is calculated on the total booking value (price × number of seats booked). GST (18%) is applied on the commission amount as per Indian tax regulations.
2.1 Example Calculation
- Trip price: ₹5,000 per person
- Seats booked: 4
- Total booking: ₹20,000
- Commission (12% for Verified): ₹2,400
- GST on commission (18%): ₹432
- Your payout: ₹17,168
3. Payout Schedule
3.1 When You Get Paid
| Payment Type | Payout Timeline |
|---|---|
| Single payment trips | Within 3 business days after trip completion |
| Staged payment trips (advance) | 60% released 48 hours before departure |
| Staged payment trips (balance) | 40% released within 3 business days after trip completion |
3.2 Payout Methods
- Bank transfer (NEFT/IMPS): Direct to your registered bank account. Most hosts prefer this.
- UPI: Available for payouts under ₹1,00,000.
- International payouts are not currently supported.
3.3 Payout Hold Scenarios
- Payouts may be held if a traveler raises a dispute within 48 hours of trip completion.
- Held payouts are released once the dispute is resolved.
- If your account is under review, payouts are held until the review concludes.
4. Cancellation Impact on Earnings
4.1 Traveler Cancellations
- If a traveler cancels and receives a partial refund, you receive your share of the retained amount (after commission).
- If a traveler cancels within the "cooling off" period (full refund), you receive nothing for that booking.
4.2 Host Cancellations
- If you cancel a trip, all travelers receive a 100% refund and you earn nothing.
- Frequent cancellations may result in penalties (see Host Guidelines).
5. Taxes
- Roamaya deducts TDS (1%) on payouts as per Section 194-O of the Income Tax Act (applicable to e-commerce operators).
- You will receive a TDS certificate (Form 16A) quarterly for tax filing purposes.
- If you are GST-registered, provide your GSTIN in the Host Dashboard to receive proper invoices.
- It is your responsibility to file appropriate income tax returns on your hosting earnings.
6. Invoicing
- Roamaya generates a commission invoice for each completed trip (available in Host Dashboard → Earnings).
- Payout summaries are available monthly for your records.
- If you need a custom invoice format, contact our support team.
